“Certainly some of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen! Really amazing hosts ensure your stay is especially memorable.”Leanne Bergh, Africa Safari Expert
Designed to maximise its outstanding location, Knysna Heights is a modern villa with breathtaking views of the Knysna Lagoon and the open Indian ocean beyond The Heads. Smooth parquet flooring and plush furnishings in neutral and earthy tones add to the comfortable atmosphere. Spacious, open-plan living spaces connect with the outdoors via large sliding doors and flow out onto private terraces, including an outside entertainment area and a rim-flow swimming pool.
A 5-hour scenic drive from Cape Town, the town of Knysna lies at the centre of the Garden Route, a beautiful coastal region set on the Southern Cape coast. Famous for the fynbos heathlands and forests that cover its mountains as well as its white-sand beaches, the Garden Route is as popular with families as it is with outdoor enthusiasts and adventure-sport lovers.
Surrounded by lush forests and with a backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains and the Indian Ocean, the town of Knysna is situated on a 21-hectare tidal lagoon and is protected from the sea by gigantic sandstone cliffs called The Heads.
Bustling during holiday season, overflowing during the annual Oyster Festival and pleasantly quiet in winter, this coastal town features a convenient waterfront with many restaurants, boutiques, cosy coffee shops and seafood taverns. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy micro-brews at the local Mitchell’s Brewery while golfers will be pleased to find a choice of superb golf courses around Knysna.
Knysna Heights Villa is ideal for families with children and groups of friends who want a comfortable, home-away-from-home ambience. This exclusive-use accommodation is highly recommended for travellers on a self-drive Garden Route holiday.
With a year-round temperate climate that is perfect for outdoor living, the Garden Route’s summer months (November to April) see long sunny days, although rain can be expected at any time of year. Popular beaches are very busy during the Christmas holiday season: if you want a crowd-free holiday with good beach weather, the best time to visit Knysna is between February and April.
The May-to-October winters are cooler and wetter but bring their own rewards: the Knysna Festival - a fantastic combination of sporting events, food and music - is held in July while whale watching can be enjoyed in the August to November spring months.
The modern kitchen is centrally located on the second floor and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances including an oven and hob, microwave oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. It is fully-stocked with complimentary beverages for your arrival.
The master bedroom is elegantly furnished with plush cream carpets and a king-sized bed. Situated on the upper level, large windows and private terrace offer magnificent views over the Knysna Lagoon while a quiet reading corner is the perfect place to relax with a book or Kindle.
Two further en suite bedrooms lie on the second level of the house and are comfortably furnished with king-sized beds (twins on request). Both rooms are set beneath the lush canopy of the indigenous forest and feature reach-out-and-touch-it views of the forest and its birdlife. Look out for a colourful loerie, the town’s signature bird.
Spacious en suite bathrooms accompany each room and feature sleek walk-in showers, large bathtubs and double vanities. Marble tiles in natural hues, sheet glass and dark wood finishes create stylish appeal.
Showcasing the villa’s breathtaking second-floor views, the open-plan living areas are spacious, comfortably furnished and flow out onto covered private terraces. Large leather sofas have been placed to take in the views across the bay and the elegant 8-seater dining table is perfect for family reunions. The villa’s second lounge has comfy couches and a cosy fireplace where you can relax and enjoy movies on a large plasma-screen television. On warm evenings, enjoy drinks outside on the terrace and watch sunset over the ocean.
The villa’s split-level configuration creates private terraces on each level that command beautiful views. A small wooden deck surrounds a sparkling infinity pool: its elegant sun loungers beckon sun-worshippers, a poolside barbeque promises alfresco dining South-African style.
