“The perfect holiday home for a family wanting a private slice of Zanzibar. The direct access to the beach, private pool and butler service are big bonuses.”Maureen Stover, Africa Safari Expert
Modern and stylish, Matemwe Beach House has been designed for luxurious barefoot living. The split-level layout creates special flow and ensures living spaces enjoy unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean. Simple, elegant furnishings in wood, stone and terracotta echo the surrounding natural environment; accents of blues, creams and whites create a cool, bright beachfront ambience.
Matemwe Beach House overlooks Matemwe beach, located on Zanzibar’s prime north-east coast. Famous for its chalky white-sand beaches and the coral reefs that lie around nearby Mnemba Island, Matemwe beach draws honeymooners, families and adventure-lovers alike. One of the biggest attractions is the world-class diving that Mnemba Atoll offers: turtles, dolphins and myriad reef fish are just some of the marine creatures to be found. Stone Town, the island’s capital and a bustling World Heritage Site, is only an hour drive away and makes for an interesting cultural excursion.
Matemwe Beach House is ideal for families with children and groups of friends looking for a private island escape. The secluded peace and luxury of the fully-serviced villa also makes it perfect for honeymooners and romance-seeking couples.
Zanzibar enjoys a typically tropical climate and is generally hot and somewhat humid all year round. Two distinct rainy seasons mark the year - mid-March to late May and again in November - so most travellers tend to visit the island during the hot and drier December to February period. If you want to avoid the rain and the crowds, go to Zanzibar during the spring months between June and October and enjoy dry weather and slightly cooler temperatures. Diving is generally good all year - the ‘classic’ diving months in Zanzibar are July and August, and February and March.
Zanzibar is a malaria area and visitors are advised to consult their physician prior to travel for the most appropriate medication.
A personal chef will prepare sumptuous cuisine from the freshest local ingredients and the ocean’s daily catch. Menus are prepared according to your needs and served when and where you like. Specific dietary requirements and children’s meals are catered for.
Situated on the ground floor, the master bedroom is spacious and cool with simple but elegant beach-house furniture. Mosquito nets billow in the breeze around a king-sized bed.

Living and dining areas are stylish and modern with contemporary-chic furniture in warm, neutral tones. High ceilings create light and airy spaces and a private bar is fully stocked for your convenience.
