“A fantastic option for a family safari, the owner's house is intimate and relaxed.”Carlien Parsons, Product Manager
Contemporary European style meets Afro-chic in a joyous union in this secluded bush retreat. Plush furnishings in rich textures and earthy hues are accented by pops of burnt orange that recall the classic African sunset. Double-volume thatched roofs echo traditional dwellings of the region, while floor-to-ceiling doors fold back to seamlessly connect interior and exterior spaces in this ‘treehouse for grown-ups’.
Morukuru Owner’s House is situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa’s North West province. At 75 000 hectares, this is one of the largest game reserves in the country. Because the animals, including the Big 5, have no reason to migrate, Madikwe offers unrivalled all-year game viewing. In addition, guests can enjoy excellent bird watching, freshwater fishing safaris and water sports on the private dam. For after-hours relaxation, have a spa treatment or learn a traditional local dance, even if you think you have two left feet!
This exclusive-use bush lodge is ideal for small families, couples or honeymooners wanting a tranquil escape with all amenities and activities on tap.
While many parks around South Africa experience high and low seasons in terms of spotting game, Madikwe Private Game Reserve offers superb year-round game viewing. Due to the reserve being under single management, the animals do not undertake any major migrations and can easily be spotted during both the wet and dry seasons. The wet season runs from October to April and sees Africa at her greenest, with lush landscapes, flowing rivers and bird-and-newborn-viewing is at its best. The dry season in winter sees warm, clear days and crisp nights, making for breath-taking game spotting.
Helicopter transfers from the airport can be arranged.
A fully equipped kitchen allows your chef personal to spoil you with superb local cuisine, while taking into account your dietary preferences.
Elegantly styled in rich earth tones, the master bedroom is your tranquil haven. A king-sized bed ensures blissful sleep after early-morning game drives, while a private terrace that seems to float among the surrounding trees is the perfect spot sit and relax.
The beautifully appointed second bedroom is sumptuously furnished with a king-sized bed. Sliding doors open onto a private terrace that offers reach-out-and-touch-it views of the surrounding wilderness.
The capacious en suite bathrooms have oval bathtubs that command serene views and roomy-but-private alfresco showers for those who really want to ‘get back to nature’.
Living spaces are comfortably furnished with contemporary Afro-Euro décor in dark, natural hues. Large sofas and comfy armchairs invite you to unwind, while a cosy stone fireplace beckons on winter nights. An 8-seater dining table is perfect for enjoying the culinary delights created by your personal chef. All living areas open up on verdant treescapes, putting you among the playful birdlife.
Exquisite decks flow around the house, connecting living spaces and offering secluded sanctuaries in which to relax in peace. An azure swimming pool and private Jacuzzi will delight water babies. Enjoy an African-style barbeque while you watch for shooting stars and listen out for the roar of distant lions and rustle of cicadas.
