De Waterkant Villas

Home > Accommodation > Villas > Neighbourhoods > De Waterkant

Just outside the Cape Town city centre lies the historical district of De Waterkant.

Saturated in colour and character, De Waterkant is one of Cape Town’s oldest residential areas and is the epicentre of lock-up-and-go accommodation, high-end restaurants and the exciting shops of the Cape Quarter Lifestyle Village.

It’s easy to understand De Waterkant’s appeal. Built in the 18th and 19th centuries, the area’s Cape Dutch and Georgian-style cottages are brightly painted, their shuttered windows opening onto neat, cobbled streets lined with large plane trees. Our De Waterkant apartments are housed in these stylishly renovated cottages or in sympathetically designed contemporary spaces, their elevated position on Signal Hill allowing for roof-terrace views across from Table Mountain down to Table Bay.

But there’s more: the village-like charm of De Waterkant’s cottages and cobblestones is matched by urban luxuries such as sunny sidewalk cafés, hip boutiques and interior décor stores ready to satiate the most demanding of design-driven appetites. Day-to-day living essentials and decadent treats can be found down the road at the swanky Cape Quarter Lifestyle Centre, and the restaurant-packed V&A Waterfront - with its world-class Two Oceans Aquarium and boat trips to iconic Robben Island - lies just a short stroll away.

Wake up to breakfast on your rooftop terrace or follow the aroma of freshly ground coffee down to La Petite Tarte, a quaint French-style sidewalk café. Drive 10 minutes and you’re at the Table Mountain cable car or beautiful city beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton. In the evenings, have drinks at laid-back Café Manhattan, a tapas-style dinner and live jazz at The Piano Bar or traditional Italian fare at Andiamo – all within easy walking distance of your De Waterkant apartment.

Our team of experienced Villa Experts are here to tailor-make your dream vacation.

For the best coffee in De Waterkant join the casually cool crowd at Origin Coffee Roastery housed in an elegantly-converted warehouse in Hudson Street: choose from the excellent coffee selection, chat to the roaster and grab a bite at their roof-top courtyard café.
