Hout Bay Villas

Home >Villas > Neighbourhoods > Hout Bay

An easy 30-minute drive from central Cape Town, the harbour town of Hout Bay lies cradled in impossibly beautiful surroundings.

A wide arc of sandy beach stretches between two great mountain headlands, forming a pretty bay that attracts whales in season (June to November) as well as a daily procession of fishing boats heading out to net their daily catch.

Hout Bay is the perfect foil to the bustling Cape Town scene: stroll around the harbour – especially the Bay Harbour Market; take a boat cruise out to Duiker Island - home to thousands of Cape fur seals; or stretch your legs on one the many hiking trails that meander through the mountains. The beach’s safe swimming makes it popular with families. Also great for children are the large walk-through aviaries at the nearby World of Birds – photographers love them too!

After a day of exploring, refresh at one of Hout Bay’s many restaurants. Enjoy superb Thai cuisine and an elegant night out at Kitima Restaurant in Kronendal Manor House (be sure to book ahead!) or decadent seafood platters at the Chapman’s Peak Hotel. For more casual dinners, try the ever-popular Lookout DeckDunes or Pure. And if you’re staying over a weekend be sure to pop down to the Bay Harbour Market for tasty treats, live music and a laid-back vibe.

Accommodation in Hout Bay is ideal for families and friends wanting a ‘home-from-home’ holiday rental, with swimming pool and great views. One of the best things about our Hout Bay villas is how well placed they are for seeing more of the Cape Peninsula. There are three roads leading out of Hout Bay: the coastal drive past Llandudno and Camps Bay and into the Cape Town city centre; the route inland to the historic estates of the Constantia Wine Valley; and the drive south to Cape Point along the dramatic cliffs of Chapman’s Peak Drive – one of the most scenic roads in the world.

Our team of experienced Villa Experts are here to tailor-make your dream vacation.

For good, old-fashioned fish and chips visit Fish on The Rocks, close to the Bay Harbour Market. At this unpretentious, value-for-money café, your order is wrapped in newspaper and you eat outside in the sunshine and salty air, as seagulls swoop above you, hoping to scavenge a taste!
