The following details relate to holders of adult normal passports (requirements for children may be different), if any other type of passport or travel document is held, entry requirements should be checked with the relevant embassy or consulate

Visa General

The following DO NOT require a visa:

1) Nationals of Malawi

2) For stays up to 90 days by:

a) Holders of British passports

b) Nationals of Antigua & Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Belize, Botswana, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Dominica, Fiji, Finland, France, Gambia, Germany, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Iceland, Ireland Rep, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Kiribati, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Samoa, San Marino, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Swaziland, Sweden, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, United States, Vanuatu, Zambia & Zimbabwe

Required by all except those as noted above and:

1) Persons continuing their journey to a third country by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours, provided holding tickets & documentation for next destination (except nationals of Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Rep, Egypt, Georgia, Hungary, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea (North), Korea (South), Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam & Yemen

Transit Notes

Nationals of the above countries may obtain a (transit) visa issued prior to arrival in Malawi upon arrival in Malawi upon application to the Immigration Department P.O. Box 331, Blantyre or through any Malawi Embassy aboard
