The tide-free and current-free waters of Lake Malawi make for excellent sailing; add to that sunny skies and a light breeze and you've got the perfect conditions. Most Lake Malawi accommodation has sailing boats, so you can spend your morning whizzing across the calm, blue water.

Nkwichi Lodge, on the Mozambique side of the Lake, has a traditional wooden sailing dhow which is a great way to explore this beautiful shoreline; stopping for a picnic lunch, the occasional swim or to visit local communities.

You could even spend a few nights on the Lake, aboard the luxurious ocean-going catamaran, Mufasa. Charter the boat for you and your family or friends and spend your days cruising the lake, swimming, snorkelling, scuba-diving (there's a dive platform) or fishing, and the evenings anchored in a secluded bay.

We can also tailormake a liveaboard holiday both on Mufasa and at various lodges; sail from Cape Maclear to Mumbo Island, across to Nkwichi Lodge, on the Lake's Mozambique shore, and to Kaya Mawa Lodge on Likoma Island.
