Chintheche Inn lies on the northern shores of Lake Malawi, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Viphya Mountains. The inn is just south of Nkhata Bay on a broad sandy beach, and has extensive grounds with indigenous trees.

There is plenty to keep you busy at Chintheche with excellent swimming, windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling and beach braais (traditional South African barbeques). There is also a swimming pool at the inn for those days when the lake is rough.

Local excursions are available to nearby villages for an interesting cultural experience, and the surrounding indigenous forests offer good opportunities for bird watching. If you're in the mood for something more strenuous you can try the mountain bike trails (bikes available for hire), or the Luwawa Hiking Trail. This is a tough walk though, and only recommended for the very fit.
