Mkulumadzi is the perfect combination of luxury and isolation, set in a 7,000 hectare private concession. The lodge is set on the banks of the Shire River, shaded by giant leadwood trees and wild mangos.

Set in an ideal location, at the coming together of two rivers just a few kilometres from the point where the magnificent Shire River plunges into the Kapichira Falls.

Guests arrive by a footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River to discover a friendly welcome and many home comforts. The lodge has a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, a lounge and terrace, a bar and shop, swimming pool, viewing deck and a lapa for evening campfires.

This area offers a whole range of exciting activities for you to enjoy; game drives, walking and boating safaris as well as trips to the nearby village and community centre.

The area is home to an abundance of game including; black rhino, elephant, buffalo, eland, kudu, sable, suni, klipspringer, Lichtenstein's hartebeest and zebra.

Mkulumadzi is located on the banks of the Shire River in the Majete Wildlife Reserve, Malawi.

The lodge has a lovely restaurant offering delicious meals, that be enjoyed either indoors or outdoors.

Afternoon tea is served on the terrace and on most nights dinner is served beneath the stars.

On the longer game-drive excursions, scrumptious packed breakfasts and lunches are offered.

Mkulumadzi consists of 8 luxurious and spacious chalets, decorated with contemporary furnishings and flooded with natural light.

Each chalet consists of a large bedroom and lounge area that opens out to a private wooden viewing deck, plus an ensuite bathroom with twin basins and a sunken bath that overlooks the river and is large enough for two people.

There is also a large outdoor rain shower, open to the surrounding bush and with stone clad walls for privacy.

Accommodation is offered in five double or twin chalets, along with one honeymoon chalet and two family chalets. The family chalets have two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom.
