Big Game Fishing in Mauritius

Big game fishing is best on the west coast of Mauritius because the currents swirl around the foot of Le Morne, creating a marine environment attractive to bait fish, which in turn attracts the larger fish.

During the fishing season, between October and April, game fish such as marlin sailfish, wahoo, tuna and shark can be caught as little as 1.5km offshore.

Fully equipped boats can be organised for full or half-day trips. Boats usually accommodate 5 anglers which can include first-timers and older children. Non-anglers are also welcome to come and enjoy the ride.

If you catch the big one, taxidermists are on-hand to preserve your trophy, otherwise, most hotels will be happy to cook your catch.
