The Corps de Garde Mountain Nature Reserve is named after the 720 metre-high volcano in the Tamarin mountains of Mauritius.

The reserve is most famed for being the site of the rediscovery of Trochetia parviflora, a beautiful tree thought to have been extinct, by Vincent Florens and his colleague Jean-Claude Sevathian in 2001.
