The Corps de Garde Mountain Nature Reserve is named after the 720 metre-high volcano in the Tamarin mountains of Mauritius.

The reserve is most famed for being the site of the rediscovery of Trochetia parviflora, an beautiful tree thought to have been extinct., by Vincent Florens and his colleague Jean-Claude Sevathian in 2001.
