The Residence, with its high ceilings, large shuttered windows and tasteful décor has a wonderful elegant charm, reminiscent of the colonial era, with lovely old photographs on the walls. Even the staff fit the part with their elegant, white linen uniforms and faultless service.

The hotel itself is located directly on a long, sandy beach, with only the pool separating it from the white sand and turquoise Indian Ocean. You can relax on one of the numerous sun beds or partake in one of the many free sports, such as waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, tennis or aerobics. Deep sea fishing, horse riding and walking trails are also available.

The large Sanctuary Spa, operated by La Prairie (the Swiss cosmetics brand), is one of the highlights at The Residence. Facilities include a sauna, Hammam and fitness centre (all free of charge) as well as a number of health programs such as massages, aerobics, reflexology and a full range of beauty and hairdressing services.

The Residence has 3 restaurants:

The Dining Room - the hotel's main restaurant, which overlooks the swimming pools and ocean, offers both Western & local specialties.

The Verandah - serves lunches & snacks next to the pools.

The Plantation - considered amongst the best restaurants in Mauritius, the Plantation has a great ocean front setting and serves both seafood & Creole cuisine.

The Bar - wide sofas, comfortable armchairs, colonnades and a horseshoe bar; the perfect place for a late breakfast, afternoon teas and great cocktails.

The Residence has 135 spacious, air-conditioned rooms, each with a private terrace or balcony, with either a garden or ocean view. There are also 28 suites which come in a variety of sizes, each with lovely views and stylish charm. All rooms and suites have large marble bathrooms with both a bathtub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in wardrobe.
