Port Mathurin
Mauritius
The town of Port Mathurin is the capital of the island of Rodrigues. It was established as a French colony in 1735, and conquered by the British in 1809 when they took over the island and administered it as a dependency of Mauritius.
Port Mathurin lies on the northern shore of Rodrigues.
