Set in tropical gardens right on the edge of the Indian Ocean, The Sands Resort and Spa is the perfect place to unwind and treat yourself to a bit of quiet pampering in relaxed surroundings. This tastefully designed, Mauritian style hotel is perfectly positioned on the western side of the island, to take advantage of the panoramic views across the flat, blue Tamarin Bay towards the lush green Le Morne Mountain. This allows you to step straight onto the perfectly white sandy beach, dotted with welcoming thatched umbrellas.

If lying under your thatched umbrella catching a tan becomes a little monotonous, there is a vast array of challenging, fun and free activities available. The crystal clear lagoon next to the hotel is the perfect place to try and harness the wind by sailing or windsurfing, or if the wind dies down use muscle power to paddle or pedal your boat across the water. Glass bottomed boats and snorkeling are an easy way to see the colourful sea life teeming below the surface, or of course you could totally immerse your self by paying for a PADI diving course at the hotel Diving Centre.
