Nampula Province

Nampula Province was officially called Mocambique during the days of Portuguese colonial rule. When the country gained independence, Mocambique was adopted as its new name and so the province was renamed after its capital, Nampula.

Roughly 3.4 million (2002) people live within the province of Nampula.
