Flights to the Quirimbas

Due to their location off Mozambique's far north coast, the Quirimbas Archipelago used to be thought of as a fairly inaccessible holiday destination. This is no longer the case.

There are five direct flights a week from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Pemba International airport in Mozambique - on either Mozambique Airlines (LAM) or South African Airways.

Flights generally land in Pemba around lunch, leaving more than enough time to catch a light aircraft or helicopter directly to the island of your choice.

Approximate flying times from Pemba are listed below:

• 20 or 25 minutes to Quilalea Island
• 25 minutes to Ibo Island
• 30 minutes to Matemo Island
• 45 minutes to Medjumbe Island
• 75 minutes to Vamizi Island
