Matemo Island

Matemo Island has eight kilometres of private beaches and countless coves. This is a magical destination with lush vegetation, plenty of palms, and flocks of flamingos in the shallow waters along the western coast.

Surrounded by coral reefs rich in marine life, Matemo offers fantastic scuba diving, with new sites being discovered all the time.

The island is about a 25-minute flight from Pemba, and you can stay in one of Matemo Island Resort's thatched bungalows. This is a good option for a family beach holiday, as the resort allows children, and there are plenty of fun activities and games on offer.
