Quirimbas Money

The local currency in the Quirimbas Archipelago is the metical (MT), plural meticais, which is divided into 100 centavos.

You'll get the best rates of exchange for US dollars, and South African rands; other currencies and traveller's cheques can be difficult to change.

There are no credit facilities at Ibo Island Lodge, so you have to pay for any extras in US dollars or meticais only. Credit cards are accepted at most of the other Quirimbas island lodges, but apart from this your credit card will be of little use.
