Casa Rex is a guest house and restaurant on mainland Mozambique, with sweeping views of the sparkling ocean and islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. A small footpath winds down to the beach below and the lodge swimming pool, overlooking Vilanculos Bay, is the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon.

There's also a lovely verandah and many large indigenous trees offering much-needed shade, and adding to the tranquil feel of the property. The lounge and dining areas' are furnished with custom-crafted wood furniture, and decorated with beautiful carvings and interesting local art.

Casa Rex has an excellent à la carte restaurant which is open for both lunch and dinner. Cuisine is a combination of international and Mozambican dishes, with delicious seafood specialities like crab curry.

As you dine, you can gaze out over the ocean to the Bazaruto Islands some 30km away.

Casa Rex offers a variety of room types which all have seaviews, en-suite bathrooms and private balconies or verandas.

We recommend the Acacia rooms (8 in total). 4 of the Acacia rooms offer double beds and are upstairs and the other 4 Acacia rooms offer twin beds and are located downstairs. Amenities in the Acacia rooms include internet connectivity, air-conditioning an en suite shower, fans, bar fridge and private balcony.

The 2 Premium rooms are suitable for families, as 2 additional single beds or cots can be added to these rooms to accommodate children. The one Premium room is equipped with a double bed, an en-suite bath/shower, fans, mosquito nets and a terrace, while the other Premium room is equipped with 3 single beds, an en-suite shower, fans, mosquito nets and a terrace.

The 4 Courtyard suites are comprised of a double bed, en-suite bath and shower, sitting area with day bed, air-conditioning and mosquito nets, bar fridge and private balcony. These suites can also accommodate 2 additional beds or cots for children.

The Honeymoon suite is made up of a double bed, en-suite shower, private dressing area, fans, mosquito nets, internet access and a large private terrace.
