Aranos

The road branches off east from Mariental and leads to Aranos. This small place is surrounded by the red sands of the Kalahari which, surprisingly, are not as desertlike as you might think.

The undulating land is liberally dotted with trees and shrubs which sustain much wildlife. The road follows the dry bed of the Nosob River towards the Botswanan and South African border, where it enters the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park.
