Thatched chalets overlooking the Kwando River within the western Caprivi National Park, Namibia.
Paradise Rediscovered - Kwando River is a water source which nourishes delicate ecosystems.
Dreamy Views - 6 suites overlook the Kwando River and surrounding savannahs.
Unhindered Beauty - you have the opportunity to experience an untouched African island.
Situated in north-eastern Namibia, the island on which Susuwe Island Lodge is situated is in the remote Kwando River - a permanent water source which nourishes delicate ecosystems and sustains varied game and birdlife.
Susuwe Island Lodge is built to incorporate the riverine forest. The main complex has lofty canopy viewing decks overlooking endless savannahs, glistening lily-studded wetlands and ancient Kalahari woodlands, as well as a fire pit, spacious lounge and dining areas, curio shop and small reference library.
Enjoy game drives in open 4x4 vehicles in the Bwabwata National Park. Game sightings in this cradle of rivers could include vast herds of roaming elephant and buffalo, lion, hippo and leopard. Night drives at Susuwe offer an even closer insight into the intrigue of the African bush.
You could also gather your fishing rods and drinks, and spent a few glorious hours floating down the river. Wonderful and informative guided walks will allow you to view game from up close and teach you about the environment.
Another way to view game, birds, or fish, or just simply relax, is to take a boat cruise on the Kwando River and backwaters, preferably at sunset or sunrise.
Unusual resident and migrant birds live in this area. The river, surrounding floodplains and savannahs offer special sightings such as Wattled crane, Racquet tailed rollers, Wood owls and African crakes.
Children under 12 years are not allowed, unless by special arrangement.
Situated in north-eastern Namibia, on an island in the remote Kwando River.
