Desert Rhino Camp is a luxury tented camp run in conjunction with the Save the Rhino Trust in the private Palmwag area of the rugged northern Damaraland. The camp offers you fascinating insight into local ecology and conservation and at the same time contributes directly to the Trust and ultimately the sustainability of this vulnerable area and its wildlife.
The area covered whilst tracking black rhino and other wildlife is massive, over 450 000 hectares. You share Desert Rhino Camp with a maximum of 12 guests together with dedicated conservationists and local trackers, providing you with an exclusive game-viewing experience.
There are large populations of Hartman's mountain zebra, giraffe, oryx, springbok and kudu. The predator population is the largest outside of the Etosha National Park with over 100 lion, cheetah, leopard, and brown and spotted hyena. There is also the chance of spotting the elusive black rhino. Birding enthusiasts are sure to appreciate the prolific and diverse bird life in the Palmwag area.
