Namibia Travel: General Information

Twice the size of California, Namibia is located in southwest Africa- sandwiched between the Atlantic to the west and Botswana to the east. South Africa provides its southern border and Angola its northern one. The 824,292 km² country is dominated by coastal deserts, a hill-studded central plateau, and the bush-covered Kalahari sands to the east.

Namibia has earned itself a reputation as a modern, well-developed and safe country to travel in, backed up by good infrastructure and a sound economy. Its climate is typical of sub-tropical deserts- a wide range in temperatures, low rainfall and humidity. Classified as mostly arid to semi-arid, there are distinct wet and dry seasons.
