Namibia » General Information » Overview

Twice the size of California, Namibia is located in southwest Africa- sandwiched between the Atlantic to the west and Botswana to the east. South Africa provides its southern border and Angola its northern one. The 824,292 km2 country is dominated by coastal deserts, a hill-studded central plateau, and the bush-covered Kalahari sands to the east.

Namibia has earned itself a reputation as a modern, well-developed and safe country to travel in, backed up by good infrastructure and a sound economy. Its climate is typical of sub-tropical deserts- a wide range in temperatures, low rainfall and humidity. Classified as mostly arid to semi-arid, there are distinct wet and dry seasons.
