Best Of Namibia - many rare, endemic and special species of animal, bird and plant life thrive here, making this one of Namibia's most diverse and wildlife-rich areas.
Birdwatcher's Paradise - the area is also renowned as a birding 'hotspot'.
In The Footsteps Of The Bushman - experience a wealth of natural and cultural history by joining a guided nature drive, visiting one of the Bushman rock art sites, or walking among the mountains with one of the experienced guides.
Part of the 200 000 hectare Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy, Erongo Wilderness Lodge is in a special wilderness area, encircled by the Erongo Mountains, where the desert, mountain and bushveld ecosystems meet. This pristine area straddles the Erongo Mountains, a natural reserve within a vast volcanic crater complex.
Here, in a secluded valley, you will find 10 luxury tented chalets in a dramatic setting of granite boulders and breathtaking views.
Raised wooden walkways and natural stone steps connect the chalets to the main area, where the restaurant, lounge, swimming pool and sundowner deck invite you to relax and fully unwind.
The open-plan lounge and restaurant overlooks a floodlit waterhole, and is warmed by a central fireplace in the winter.
There are many activities and nearby attractions to enjoy, such as nature drives, Namibia's only wine producer, microlighting, quad biking, additional Bushman Rock Art sites, various gem jewellery and other craft outlets in nearby Omaruru.
Children's policy: Much of the charm of Erongo lies in its tranquil wilderness setting and may therefore not always be appreciated by all children. It is a condition therefore that adults accompanying children take full responsibility for the conduct and safety of their children.
LocationThe lodge is situated within the Erongo Mountain Nature Conservancy in Namibia, 2.5 hours from Windhoek, near the town of Omaruru.

DiningThe lounge and restaurant are housed in a partially open, thatched building, which has a fireplace at its centre for colder winter nights and an outside deck, or veranda, with views of the sunset and the floodlit waterhole.
The lodge's 2 highly trained and innovative chefs will spoil you with delicious and original meals, freshly baked breads and pastries, and sumptuous breakfasts, all complemented by the great setting.
Dinner is served as a plated meal over 3 courses, with a different set menu each evening, while a fully stocked bar caters for all tastes, offering a wine list with a selection of lesser known, quality estates with an emphasis on originality. Most specific dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice.
Accommodation is in 10 large Mini Meru lodge tents, built on stilts with wooden floors, large wooden decks and great views. These tents are pitched under broad thatched roofs that provide ample shade, and mosquito netting is fitted on all windows and doors. Of the 10 tents, 8 have 2 x three-quarter beds, and 2 have double beds, all made from sleeper wood.
The thatch extends beyond the back of each tent to cover the bathrooms, which have the 'feel' of being outdoors. Walls of natural stone and existing trees ensure privacy, and the bathrooms are equipped with showers rather than baths.
In addition, each room has a mini bar, 2 reading lamps, a broad selection of magazines, tables & chairs both indoors and on the veranda/deck, fire extinguisher and plug point.
Access to the tents is via wooden walkways and stone steps, some of which are steeper/further from the main area than others. Two of the tents are accessible with a minimum of stairs, however, the nature and location of the lodge is such that it is regrettably not wheelchair-friendly.
