Oshana Region » Oshana region

Oshana is one of Namibia's thirteen administrative regions.

Oshana's capital, Oshakati, is close to two other towns, Ongwediva and Ondangwa. The constituencies of the region include Okaku, Okatana, and Okatjali. This preponderance of 'O' initials would be inexplicable were it not for the fact that an 'O' prefix means "the place of" in the Ovambo language.

In any case, those three towns form the greatest population concentration in Namibia after Windhoek.
