On the edge of a huge concession, Palmwag is beautifully situated next to a palm-lined tributary of the Uniab River, which often flows over-ground here. As water is very scarce in this area, its presence regularly draws elephants close to camp.
Set amongst whispering palm trees alongside a perennial spring in the Uniab River, Palmwag is the oldest lodge in the area. There are campsites as well as rooms here, and its facilities attract a variety of people, ensuring that Palmwag remains something of a crossroads.
The lodge can arrange optional morning and afternoon guided game drives in search of desert elephant, black rhino, giraffe and antelope. There are walking trails and day excursions to the Opuwo region to visit the Ovahimba people in their villages. An added bonus is when, on the rare occasion, desert elephant walk through Palmwag in search of water.
