Okonjima Bush Camp is run seperately from the main camp, and offers an alternative to the ever popular Okonjima Main Lodge. It is situated on a wilderness area approximately 3km from the main camp, and consists of 8 luxury thatched African Chalets.

The camp has an education and research centre, as well as rehabilitation camps for various animals. Okonjima is home to over 40 cheetahs, so visit the Africat Project area and accompany the guides as they monitor the progress of these cats in the rehabilitation camp. You will have the opportunity to learn about what is being done by the foundation to ensure the survival of cheetah and leopardin Namibia.

In the evenings you can visit the night hide and observe nocturnal animals, such as honey badger and porcupine. For the energetic, early-riser, guided mountain and sundowner walks and trials are offered. Bird watching is also a popular activity at Okonjima, as over 300 bird species have been identified here. 2 spacious hides are within walking distance of the lodge, one of which is situated at a recently established vulture restaurant just a short drive from the lodge.

Okonjima has 3 tame lions - Matata, Tambo and Tessie. Born in captivity, the lions have become part of the Okonjima family, and the pride has 3 lion and 5 human members. The lions can usually be seen most mornings before trails leave the lodge.

Please note: because of the proximity of lion, leopard and cheetah, children under the age of 12 are not allowed at Okonjima Bush Camp.

Okonjima Bush Camp is situated at the edge of a wilderness area, north of Windhoek.

The chalets at Okonjima Bush Camp are situated a minimum of 80 metres apart in order to assure complete privacy.

The chalets are a combination of earthy ochre walls, and khaki green canvas, under a thatched roof. With half the chalet being made from canvas, the entire front of the chalet can be rolled up at night allowing the cool breeze and sounds of the Namibian bush into the bungalow.

Okonjima Villa, Okonjima's latest addition, sleeps 8 adults and 2 children.
