At the One&Only Le Saint Géran, the décor is designed to remind you of the Indian Ocean at every turn ... and each activity on offer is intended for you to make the most of the ocean, the sheltered cove and the beautiful island of Mauritius.

The island itself offers much to explore, including the famous Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, the colourful and busy town of Port Louis and other attractions.

At the botanical gardens you'll find an extraordinary collection of indigenous and exotic plants, including giant water lilies and the talipot palm (which flowers every 60 years and then dies). At Port Louis, the capital city, there's shopping to be done at the bustling Caudan waterfront and a colourful market where you'll be reminded of the island's history in the scent of exotic spices.

Another attraction of the island is Mahebourg where what was once an 18th century colonial residence is now the Naval Museum. Here you'll find relics of the many shipwrecks around the island as well as more about the legend of Paul et Virginie ... the island's love story.

Activities

Romance, adventure and excitement are all part of the package at a One&Only resort. There is always the option of stealing an afternoon away from time in the elegant comfort of your exquisite suite, but at One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauririus you will be equally tempted by the many other activities on offer.

The calm waters of the cove on which the resort is set are the ideal setting in which to take out a kayak or pedal boat ... or the more adrenalin-charged options of a banana-boat or tube ride.

The coral-sea lagoon on the other hand, is made for exploration by snorkellers, or for the excitement of racing a windsurfer, Hobiecat or monohull Laser. There's also plenty of small game fishing to be enjoyed here.

At One&Only Le Saint Géran, waterskiers and board riders have a water ski slalom course - and if you're not too sure about these sports, or would like to hone your skills, there's a school where you can receiving training in group classes or private lessons. The school also caters for children between eight and 12 years of age - a fantastic environment for kids to gain a sense of achievement in learning a new skill, and in which to make new friends.

All water sports are complimentary with the exception of waterskiing and board riding instruction, deep-sea fishing, small game fishing, parasailing, banana boat, tube and speedboat rides.

The island of Mauritius has a great deal to offer landlovers too. It has a variety of micro-climates and vegetation zones - not to mention waterfalls, a beautiful coastline, tropical forests and bustling towns - to be explored.

The resort has a number of day trips that it recommends to guests for their consideration, each of which is designed to make the most of the island's natural beauty and attractions.

Accommodation

One&Only sets out to create individual havens with each of its guest rooms at suites in its resorts.

The effect is achieved through careful décor, designed to reflect the culture and crafts of the resort's setting.

At Le Saint Géran the suites are large, well-proportioned spaces, each with a private terrace that either faces the ocean or a small bay, or a tropical garden.

One&Only Le Saint Géran has 162 suites and one villa. Panoramic windows bring the brilliant blue sea or lagoon close enough to touch, and indoors every piece of carefully selected furniture recreates the colours of the ocean. Beds are covered with Egyptian cotton sheets and piled high with goose down pillows.
