They have slide windows for photography and game viewing, a fridge for cold drinks, a music system, comfortable forward or backward-facing coach seats, tables, personal lockers, interior and exterior lighting, a gas cooker and lots of storage space for luggage, tents, food and cooking equipment.
The deluxe trucks are crewed by two experienced driver/mechanic/tour leaders, and a safari cook.

On short or small group overland tours, 10-seater Mercedes and Toyota minibuses are used and in East Africa and Mozambique, 4x4 Land Rovers are used. Some are equipped with roof racks and trailers.
For bigger groups, Toyota safari mini-trucks are used with 12 forward-facing seats and have space for equipment and luggage. All vehicles carry tents, camping and cooking equipment plus a cool box.
The small vehicles are crewed by an experienced driver/mechanic and tour leader. On most of these shorter tours the tour leader will do the cooking with the help of the passengers.
