Diverse Habitats - the park covers about 900km of low-lying grasslands and woodlands; to the west is a mountain range, whilst to the east the Akagera River feeds into a series of lakes, marshes and papyrus swamps.
Located in Akagera National Park, Akagera Game Lodge has recently been rebuilt and has spectacular views over Lake Ihema.
Facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts and conference facilities. During your stay you can partake in guided game drives, bird watching and fishing expeditions (on request). Impala and topi (known as tsessebe in Southern Africa) seem to be dominant; various other buck, Masai giraffe, zebra, hippo and crocodile are also common; elephant are more restricted.
The best time to visit Akagera Game Lodge is during the dry period from November to January when the short grass provides good grazing for herbivores, such as zebras and antelopes, and better visability for wildlife spotting.
