The birdlife in the Seychelles is exotic not so much due to the birds' elaborate plumage or colouring, but because most of the bird species here are rare and unique to the islands. There are 12 endemic bird species you could see on your Seychelles holiday.
The male black paradise flycatcher is a striking pitch-black with a bluish beak and silvery highlights on its long tail feathers. You will easily spot Seychelles sunbird, bulbul and blue pigeon, possibly even around your resort. The only remaining parrot in the Seychelles is the black parrot. This striking jet-black bird can be seen on Praslin island in and around the Vallee de Mai.
Look out for the Seychelles white eye and magpie-robin which are two of the rarest birds in the world, and have been brought back from the brink of extinction through conservation efforts. Bird Island, Cousin and Aride are especially notable for their large populations of birdlife that come to breed on the islands. Terns, noddies, the rare Seychelles brush warbler and magpie-robins all congregate on these islands.
