Frégate Island

Lying only four degrees south of the equator, the island remains exclusive to its guest.

  • Island Paradise - the most remote and secluded of the Seychelles granite islands.

  • Island Wedding - the stunning natural beauty, soft tropical air and relaxed atmosphere makes this the perfect wedding destination.

  • Island Fresh - most of the fruit, vegetables, salads and herbs are homegrown.

Named after the acrobatic Frégate bird, Frégate Island was first settled by pirates during the 16th and 17th centuries, seeking shelter following their raids.

Today it is a private island, where no day visitors are allowed. Instead the seven beaches, including Anse Victorin renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and the 2 freshwater swimming pools are for the exclusive use of the island's guests.

Construction of the resort was subject to strict regulations to safeguard the environment, and the preservation and protection of the island's unique flora and fauna continues to be amongst Frégate's main priorities. The resort also supports the local community in many ways.

Together with 14 bird species, Frégate Island is also home to a wild herd of more than 400 Aldabra Giant Tortoises, one of only three wild-roaming populations left in the Seychelles. The Hawksbill turtle and Green turtle, both critically endangered, are also frequent visitors to the shores of the island for nesting and egg-laying.

Frégate Island offers a host of activities on, in and under the water. Sailing and motorboats can take you to the numerous dive sites around the island and the turquoise lagoon, protected by a small reef, is particularly safe for swimmers, snorkellers and beginner divers.

If you prefer to stay ashore, there is a fully equipped gym, an extensive library and a boutique collection. You can also climb Mount Signal, with a summit of 125 metres, or enjoy a bird's-eye view of the Seychelles aboard a helicopter or a small aircraft.

You could also relax at The Rock Spa, which is perched on a cliff-top plateau overlooking the sea. The spa uses ancient techniques from India, Australia and Polynesia with botanical treatments prepared from local ingredients.

Frégate has a host of beautiful locations perfect for a tropical wedding, including a traditional, intimate chapel and the summit of Mount Signal. Every detail will be taken care of, from administering all documents to arranging a make-up artist, stylist, florist, Creole band and tailored menu.

The Castaway Club offers fun and educational activities over the Christmas and Easter periods for children aged between 5 and 12 years old and babysitters are available for younger children.
