The fourth largest island of the Seychelles group, La Digue is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands with palm-fringed beaches, towering granite boulders and turquoise waters.
La Digue is also the island where the traditional Seychellois way of life continues as it always has. The fish market in La Passe is often bustling with fishermen selling their catch, and the main form of transport is ox-cart.
La Digue is small enough to be explored in a day, catch the ferry that leaves from Praslin Island throughout the day and hop on an "ox-taxi” for a tour of the island. Alternatively, hiring a bicycle is the best way to explore the flat coastal plateau and beaches from Grand Anse to Anse Fourmis.
La Digue island features one of the Seychelles' most beautiful beaches, Anse Source d'Argent where silver white sand and exotic palms make it look like something out of a photo shoot.
There is some charming La Digue accommodation although, in keeping with the laid back spirit of the island, there are no super-luxurious options.
