The largest of the satellite islands around Mahé, Sainte Anne is also one of the less known islands of the Seychelles. Although the first settlers of the Seychelles lived here, the island has mainly been left to the coconuts since.

It was used as a whaling station, as a fuel store during the Second World War, and as the headquarters of the Marine Parks Authority. Now it is the site of a five star hotel, which controls access to the island.
