A very elegant safari destination, Singita Game Reserves in South Africa is about wildlife, community and conservation and every ounce of luxury you could want.
Known for the wildlife and safari experiences it offers its guests, Singita Game Reserves also prides itself on the innovative design of its four lodges, the high standard of service the staff are motivated to provide, the excellent food and wine and warm hospitality.
Singita has lodges in two different areas that border the Kruger National Park. Within the Singita Private Game Reserve itself, which lies in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, are the well-known Singita Boulders and Ebony Lodge. Singita Lebombo and Sweni are located in a private concession that falls within the Kruger Park's boundaries.
Originally, the land that makes up Singita Private Game Reserve today consisted of two farms in the area between the Sabi and Sand Rivers. The farms, Castleton and Ravenscourt, were acquired by James Fawcett Bailes in 1925 and turned into a private reserve.
In 1994, once apartheid had been abolished and South Africa opened its doors once again to the rest of the world, the Bailes family decided to invite people to experience Singita.
In the years since then, Singita Game Reserves has made a vital contribution to the conservation of the area and the neighbouring communities. In addition, its lodges have notched up a number of awards - including being named second on the Travel and Leisure Magazine's Top 100 Hotels Overall list of 2007.
Back to topThe lodges at Singita Game Reserves are all set in prime game areas: unfenced wilderness where you can be sure of one of the best gameviewing experiences to be had in South Africa.
In addition to the wildlife you will view and encounter, the other attractions at Singita are their legendary hospitality and service.
Singita Boulders and Ebony lie in Sabi Sand Reserve which has a particularly high concentration of animals and you're sure to see the Big Five and the plains animals that the top predators hunt.
Game drives are done in open landrovers to ensure you get the best possible photographic opportunities. Here rangers are allowed to go off-road, tracking animals into the thicker bush and getting you closer to the action.
Night drives are an excellent way to view nocturnal animals that you may otherwise not get to see.
Singita Lebombo and Singita Sweni lie within a private concession in the Kruger National Park, an area that's been described as 'the nearest thing to East Africa in South Africa'.

The lodges are located in remote areas of South Africa and offering employment to local people is a policy Singita is committed to. The company also strives to employ dedicated and service-driven people.
As a result, everything the staff do for you is done with sincerity and genuine hospitality.
The rangers and trackers here are undoubtedly some of the finest in Africa. It is they, in particular, who will ensure that your stay at Singita is the experience of a lifetime.

Here you'll discover traditional African food that has been given a special Singita 'twist'. Meals are served in a choice of venues: you can dine by the side of a river, a campfire or enjoy a private candlelit dinner on the deck of your suite.
Complementing the menu is Singita's hidden treasure: the best bush cellar in Africa. Buried deep in the cool rock below Boulders, the cellar boasts a truly unique and comprehensive cross section of over 12 000 South African and international wines. Singita provides the perfect environment in which to enjoy them.
Back to topSingita Private Game Reserves is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of Africa, its people and wilderness in an effort to make the world a better place for all.
In addition, Singita has worked to bring local people into the conservation industry - teaching them skills and creating jobs in this field.
Lebombo and Sweni Lodges have a policy of sourcing as many products as possible from the markets surrounding them in an effort to increase the sustainability of their operations.
Back to topThe Sabi Sand Reserve, where two of Singita's lodges - Boulders and Ebony - are located, is known for its diversity and abundance of wildlife.
In particular, you're certain to see the large herds of buffalo, the lions and the variety of antelope that the area is known for.
Lebombo, located in the Kruger Park, near the Mozambique border, is one of South Africa's more remote, less explored wilderness places.
Back to topSingita Game Reserves has set out to have a positive impact on the people and wilderness areas affected by its concerns. This they've achieved with in-house training programmes, conservation effors and community outreach projects that make a real difference.
Your stay at one of the lodges here will be enhanced with the knowledge that Singita Game Reserves continues to make a difference to their community.

Singita Ebony Lodge overlooks the Sand River in the game rich Sabi Sand Reserve. Private suites have their own plunge pools, and the atmosphere is one of earthy, robust pleasure. The décor is colonial with a bohemian twist and the world class wining and dining raise the bar on luxury.
Built out of wood and stone, Singita Boulders Lodge is pure, simple luxury. Calming and spacious, the lodge draws on its surroundings to create a sanctuary where nature rules and you can get back down to earth.
Remote and isolated, Tatler Magazine called Singita Lebombo a 'cause for global celebration'. Constructed out of slatted wood, bleached branches and glass, the lodge is contemporary in style but old-fashioned in its approach to hospitality and luxury.
Set in a forested zone on the edge of a river, Singita Sweni Lodge consist of six luxurious suites done out in dark wood and the greens of its surroundings.
