South Africa is best known for its wildlife and beaches. Our Cape Town and safari holidays will show you plenty of both, plus a whole lot in between.
All our recommended holidays start in Cape Town with its many attractions: from the soft sand skirting trendy Camps Bay to Boulders Beach with its comical penguins; the bustling restaurants at the V&A Waterfront to picnic-perfect lawns at Kirstenbosch Gardens; the flat top of Table Mountain to Cape Point's rugged cliffs.
After a few days in Cape Town, we'd recommend the cool green of the Cape Winelands, then meandering up the Garden Route and on to a big game safari in the malaria-free Eastern Cape.
If you'd rather skip the road trip, it's just a 2-hour flight from Cape Town to South Africa's biggest and best known reserve, the Kruger Park.
No one can deny that Cape Town has bucketfuls of beautiful beaches but the ocean can be icy. If you want to round off your South Africa safari with long swims and snorkeling, we'd advise hopping across to the warm waters of Mauritius or Mozambique's tropical islands.
We've carefully put together holidays that combine the excitement of Cape Town with exceptional game viewing. However, if you don't see exactly what you're looking for, contact one of our Africa Safari Experts, and they'll tailor-make a break to suit your needs.

Reviews of lodges in our Affordable Cape Town, Kruger & Mauritius holiday -
"2inn1 - cannot recommend this place highly enough. The owners sorted everything out for us from dinner reservations to taxis, and the hotel itself was fantastic with superb touches from free sundowner drinks to giving us a packed lunch as we missed breakfast for our flight to Jo'Burg. One of the nicest places we've stayed in." - Andrew Brown, Go2Africa Traveller (Oct 2009)
"Flights and transfers were smooth to the Simbavati River Lodge and we can't say enough about Elmarie & Charlie, the managers there. They were very hospitable and gracious, the food was delicious and the accommodation was great. It was very relaxing and we had a lot of excitement on the drives. I would and will recommend the lodge to anyone. Our friends have been on several safaris before in Botswana and Kenya, and they were equally impressed by Simbavati." - Laurel Sherman, Go2Africa Traveller (Jan 2010)
"Everything was perfect: the flight, transportation and the hotel. Belle Mare Plage is a great, beautiful and amazing hotel, and they gave us 3 rooms in a row which was just perfect. Mauritius is so beautiful that there are no words to describe it. We enjoyed every minute of it." - Bosmat Segal, Go2Africa Traveller (April 2009)

"The Cape Grace is so beautiful, thank you so much for your guidance with that selection! The service there is impeccable and the location is great. We loved Cape Town; I can't believe you get to live there! The trip on the yacht at the Cape Grace was wonderful as well, we had a beautiful day and it was well worth it." - Kirsten Breaux, Go2Africa Traveller (Aug 2009)
"On to the Winelands ... Le Quartier Francais was delightful; I took lots of pictures of the beautifully decorated room. We opted not to dine at The Tasting Room but enjoyed iCi very much. We also ate at Haute Cabriere where we enjoyed a very tasty dinner. Visiting the wineries was very pleasant and the tour at Boschendal was great - such a beautiful place with great history. We stopped in Stellenbosch for lunch on our way to Franschhoek but I preferred the intimacy of the latter town." - Laurel Sherman, Go2Africa Traveller (Jan 2010)
"The lodge and rooms at Kwandwe are A++: my private plunge pool was so private and wonderful. The staff are extremely attentive and remember everything about you. The Lodge Manager (Nina I think) is very warm and caring; she greeted us every time we returned from safari with towels and drinks and seemed genuinely interested in what we had done. And it's true that you hug everyone when you leave; you just can't help it." - Alexandra McLeod, Go2Africa Traveller (Jan 2010)
