Addo Elephant National Park

A National Parks Board elephant reserve with chalet accommodation not far from Port Elizabeth.

  • Animal Haven - when the area was proclaimed a national park in 1931 only 11 elephants remained; today this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 200 elephants, Cape buffalo, zebras and a variety of antelopes.

  • Cottage Views - the cottages overlook a much used elephant path to the waterhole.

  • Facilities - caravan and campsite facilities include a picnic area for day visitors, swimming pool for residents, restaurant and petrol pump.

Deep within the shadows of the dense valley bushveld of the Sundays River region of the Eastern Cape lies the Addo Elephant National Park.

Game viewing can be done from your own vehicle on a self-drive safari, or you can go on a night drive with a National Parks guide. There are various lookout points, nature trails and a bird hide in the rest camp.
