South Africa is renowned for its wildlife, in particular the 'Big Five', and many tourists visit the country to experience this.
Reserves such as the legendary Kruger National Park, Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve and the malaria-free reserves of the Eastern Cape and Madikwe Game Reserve provide an unforgettable experience.
Although South Africa is the leader in luxury wildlife safaris in Africa, there is far more to the country than pampered safaris. There are many reserves where visitors can camp, hike and generally get back to nature.
South Africa is made up of a number of ecological biomes ensuring not only a varied and extensive plant list from succulents to sub-tropical species but a long list of animals.
The best known biome is the Fynbos of the Western Cape that makes up its own floral Kingdom. Although the smallest kingdom by area in the world, it has more species than the whole of the British Isles or Canada.
South Africa has an advanced environmental policy that is an example to the world in many respects.
