South Africa is just that, it is situated on the most southerly point of Africa, with its east coast enjoying the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and the icy Atlantic lapping at its west coast until the border with Namibia.

South Africa's northerly neighbours comprise of Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Not forgetting the two tiny independent countries of Swaziland and Lesotho, within South Africa's borders.

A land of contrasts and variety, a South Africa holiday offers lush, subtropical coastlines with warm water in eastern KwaZulu Natal; arid semi-desert in the Karoo and Northern Cape towards the west; impressive mountains crisscrossed with great hikes in the Drakensberg on the Lesotho border and the fertile valleys of the Western Cape where South Africa's fruit is grown and wine is produced.

The interior plateau centres around the economic hub of Johannesburg, whereas the lowveld area to the north is dominated by Kruger National Park and the private game reserves that surround it.
