South Africa is referred to as a world in one country and although this is a marketing slogan it is very close to the mark. Incredible landscapes, wild coastlines, a rich diversity of wildlife and exciting mix of people and cultures all add up to one of the world's most sought-after holiday destinations.

Attractions on a South Africa holiday range from the renowned wildlife area of the Kruger National Park, the scenic splendour of the Panorama Route and the historical Battlefields of KwaZulu Natal to some of the best beaches in Africa and arguably the world's most beautiful city, Cape Town, and the luxuriant estates of the Cape Winelands.

Johannesburg is a hub and many travellers to South Africa fly in and out of its busiest, richest city. There's a cosmopolitan range of Johannesburg accommodation to suit all travellers and you may well find yourself tempted to treat this city as more than just a stopover.

From a visitor's point of view it is practical to divide South Africa into travel areas:
