South Africa is renowned for its wildlife, in particular the 'Big Five'.

Parks and reserves such as the legendary Kruger National Park and Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, as well as the malaria-free reserves of the Eastern Cape, Madikwe Game Reserve and Pilanesberg Game Reserve, all provide an unforgettable safari experience.

South Africa has an advanced environmental policy that is an example to the world in many respects. There have been numerous success stories, for example conservation efforts in the KwaZulu Natal safari region have helped save Africa's white rhino from extinction.

While big game tend to top visitors' checklists, our South Africa wildlife guide shows that there is even more to discover in this diverse country.

The country's varied vegetation offers an extensive plant list from succulents to sub-tropical species. The best known biome is the Fynbos of the Western Cape: the smallest floral Kingdom in the world, yet with more species than the whole of the British Isles or Canada.
