A safari lodge with secluded huts providing traditional, understated luxury accommodation.
Watch Them Gather - watch monkeys and antelope congregate at the lodge waterhole.
Prime Bush Location - the camp is situated in an area known for its great game viewing.
Malaria Free Area - enjoy prime game-veiwing in a malaria-free game reserve.
Amakhala Safari Lodge is tucked away in a valley of indigenous bush at the northern boundary of the 6000-hectare Amakhala Game Reserve. The private reserve is a joint conservation venture whose aim is to reintroduce original animal species to the area. The Big 5 - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino - can now be found at Amakhala.
The landscape and elements of African tribal design influenced owners and artists, Mike and Justine Weeks, in their dream to achieve a holistic safari experience. The lodge has various relaxation areas tastefully decorated in an 'African bush' style with splashes of colour, and thoughtful details such as a telescope for game viewing from the lounge and a brand-new stargazing facility.
The lodge offers morning & evening game drives by experienced rangers through Amakhala Game Reserve, bird watching & nature walks along the lazy Bushman's River, a cheese and wine boat cruise and a sundowners canoe safari.
Adventure programmes and facilities are available on the property adjacent to the reserve and include quad biking, obstacle courses and team building programmes.
Amakhala Safari Lodge is situated in the Amakhala Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape Province, just a 40-minute drive north-east of Port Elizabeth's national airport.
