• Yesterday's Legends - the amazing story of the Battle of Spioenkop will be the focal point of your experience, and an introductory talk on the origins of the Boer War and the Natal campaign will be offered as well as a tour to the top of Spioenkop and to Platrand (Wagon Hill) where there are excellent views over Ladysmith and the various defensive positions surrounding the town.

Three Tree Hill Lodge was opened to coincide with the centenary of the Anglo Boer War. It overlooks the battlefield of Spioenkop and is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Drakensberg mountain range. It also adjoins the Spioenkop Nature Reserve which contains white rhino, giraffe, zebra, eland, kudu and numerous smaller antelope.

This lodge has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, giving one the feeling of coming home. Taking its name from Three Tree Hill where General Sir Charles Warren had his headquarters during the battle, the lodge has been constructed using mostly wood and iron so as to resemble the housing kits that were brought out from Britain in the 19th century.

Three Trees Hill Lodge is located in the lee of the famous hill, Spioenkop, in the Battlefields area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Weather permitting, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on the main lodge veranda and evening drinks on a deck around a fire. The food is tasty and accompanied by excellent service.

Each of the 6 individual cottages at Three Tree Hill Lodge has its own bath, shower and veranda with great views of Spioenkop that can be enjoyed even from the bath. The cottages, which are very well appointed, neat and well maintained, are nicely spaced from each other. Each is furnished in understated luxury with all amenities and private, wooden deck with wonderful views.
