Situated at the foothills of the Sneeuberg mountains, the 14,500 hectare Camdeboo National Park surrounds Graaff Reinet in the Karoo.

It also incorporates the spectacular Valley of Desolation, where dolorite pillars stand as isolated towers at heights of up to 100 metres. These natural wonders were formed by the erosion of softer sedimentary deposits around the hard dolorite, a process similar to the formation of the fairy chimneys in Cappadocia in Turkey.

Camdeboo's territory includes the Nqweba Dam. The park will give you an insight into this unique landscape and ecosystem.
