The Cape of Storms, the Cape of Good Hope, the home to one of the world's seven floral kingdoms and to many of its more marvellous creatures, Cape Town is blessed with extraordinary beauty and diversity.
It's surprisingly easy to get in touch with the Mother City's greener side - you don't have to venture far from the CBD to climb a mountain, dip your head beneath the waves and ogle the marine life, or tackle a forest trail by bike or by foot. And everywhere you go you'll find evidence of the natural world that makes this such a unique destination.
Cape Town's dramatic land, sea and mountainscapes really need to be experienced to enjoy their full value. Take a camera, shoot loads of pics - even the worst photographer looks good after visiting Cape Town - but most importantly, take time out.
With long spectacular mountain ranges falling off into dramatic ocean scenes, the Cape Peninsula is something to see from any angle. Take the R44 to Hermanus, the R27 up the West Coast or a slow tour of the peninsula.
But don't let your Cape Town holiday become a whirlwind of photo ops and places visited and forgotten. Stop and smell the fynbos, dip your toes in the ocean, climb a mountain slowly and breathe it all in.
