Cape Town is often described as a dual city of two separate worlds living side by side. The economic divide is as apparent as the mountain that stands between the city and the Cape Flats, but you can bridge the gap with a mere 15 minute drive from the city centre to Langa Township.
While most people only see the townships as a blur on their way to or from Cape Town, they are home to thousands of residents; places of thriving communities, entrepreneurship, song and laughter as well as abject poverty.
A number of operators conduct day tours and there are also overnight options. In addition to Langa, there are tours to Gugulethu, Khayelitsha and Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay.
