One of Cape Town's newest attractions is Century City on the outskirts of the city. It is home to both the thrilling Ratanga Junction theme park and the Canal Walk shopping centre.

Ratanga Junction features over 30 attractions, the most exciting being the Cobra roller coaster. There are plenty of tamer rides for children and less adventurous adults. The park also has numerous restaurants and bars and a variety of evening entertainment in the grand hall, theatre rooms and cinemas.

October 2000 saw the opening of Canal Walk, the largest regional shopping centre in Africa, with a huge range of shops, restaurants, cinemas and a bird conservation area, Intaka Island.

Kids of all ages should not miss the MTN ScienCentre in the shopping centre, a fascinating hands-on experience with the latest technology. The Canal Walk Express, a new Holiday Inn hotel has also opened in the complex. Guests can take a boat ride or hire canoes between Ratanga Junction, Canal Walk, Intaka Island and Canal Walk Express.
