Steenberg sits in the lush winelands between Cape Town's suburbs of Constantia and Tokai. It's probably most famous for its golf course, whose eighteen holes lie in the shadow of Stone Mountain - the part of the Cape Peninsula mountain range that gives Steenberg its name.
The Steenberg championship golf course is a soft-spike course with arguably the best greens in Cape Town. Its first six holes wind through manicured parkland among the vineyards, following on to a series of wetland holes that feature water hazards. The back nine leaves the wetlands for the heathlands and its sand traps, to conclude beneath a bole of stately oak trees.
Apart from excellent golf, Steenberg produces excellent wine and hospitality. Situated a mere 20 minutes from the heart of the city of Cape Town, it's an excellent option for those who haven't the time to traipse out in Stellenbosch's direction for a golf and wine experience.
