Darling

The Darling area, just inland of the West Coast road, is famous for its splendid burst of spring flowers, with gorgeous displays of over 1,000 species during the wild flower festival at the end of September. There are also a scattering of delicious wine farms to explore at any time of the year.

The fertile land supports dairy herds, wheat, lupins, wine and wool. Local enterprises include textile, clothing and basket factories.

South Africa's most renowned drag artist and satirist, Peter-Dirk Uys (a.k.a. Evita Bezuidenhout) resides in Darling. This is where Evita puts on hilarious shows at Evita se Perron, her own theatre in the former town train station.
